Medjugorje: 23rd Peace Walk

Numerous pilgrims from all over the world gathered to take part in the 23rd Peace Walk from Humac to Medjugorje. Fr. Marinko Sakota invited all pilgrims in his introductory speech at 6 a.m. to be recollected in prayer and song as they walk towards Medjugorje. A little before the walk began, guardian of Humac monastery, Fr. Velimir Mandić said to all pilgrims: "May this walk that you are about to take be your contribution to praise and glory of God who will grant peace to all people in the world. In prayer and song, all participants arrived on the grounds of the church of St. James a little before 10 a.m. Upon their arrival, there was the benediction with the Blessed Sacrament and short Adoration. This Peace Walk began in 1992, at the time of the war when many pilgrims did not dare to come to Medjugorje. A group of friends of Medjugorje thought that Medjugorje should never be closed to all those who wish to come there and to pray for peace, and they decided to walk towards Medjugorje in prayer to celebrate the Anniversary of Our Lady's apparitions. This Peace Walk continued even after the war, until this date.
Apart from that event, all pilgrims are also participating in the celebration of Holy Masses, and the vigil Holy Mass of Anniversary was celebrated at 7 p.m. at the White Dome of St. James' church. (photos)      http://www.medjugorje.hr/en/
